This is me.

Well this font isn't me, but must deal with what I have. I've had my 4th open heart surger back in June of 2011. Previous 3 were some 30 years ago within 4 year range of eachother, so I've had a good run.
I'd say in 2010 I started showing real signs of CHF along with retaining water, nothing totally deabilitating, but noticable. The start of 2011 was my fall, got the chronic cough, couldn't walk real well. They finally decided it had to be done again in February. My life had been over. It was a tough winter, I couldn't shovel. I could no longer enjoy any activity other than lying down. Even sitting in normal chairs was an absolute misery to me.
I've an excellent cardiologist, literally set me up with everyone. Why the 4 month wait? No I've insurance, sucky at best. We were looking for the right surgeon, special circumstances. This was to be old school, without getting graphic, not minimally invasive.
I coughed a lot, froze, due to the water I was retaining, and gained a lot of water weight. Normally I'd say I weigh about 143, a tad over weight for my liking. I checked into the hospital at 191, after a long "relief" so I'm sure I lost a pound or 2 there as well.
The surgery went well enough, was in on the 12th of June out on the 2nd of July. Some issues. I'll always answer questions, if anyone reads this. It is not the actual point of my blog.
That is some background, I expect to be the only one reading this. You see this is the story of the reclamation of my life afterwards.
I've just gotten of the scale and am at 157 lbs. Shocking, I left the hospital short of 8 months. The weight gain is due to my slipping excercise and poor diet. As I go over what I have done with my recovery, I also want to maintain what I am doing now. That is the gist of this blog. I intend to get back to 140, 130 would be ideal.
I have been hitting the vending machines at work fairly hard. A particular weakness for Famous Amos cookies. More soda's. At home it's probably mostly the box of store bought doughnuts that always gets replenished. And because of work and something in my personal life, I've not hit the gym in 2 weeks. These are the demons I will start to slay.
